Gregory vs. The Grocery Store

Gregory doesn't usually go to the grocery store on his own, but it's not because of any HE MAN, ME WOMAN, reason. It's simply because Gregory is notorious for picking up the wrong thing (even when he has a detailed list and makes one phone call home for each item on the list), or becoming completely confused (like the time he was supposed to grab celery and came home with one leek), or going rogue and ignoring the list altogether. (Does anyone remember the horse meat incident?).

Well a couple of weeks ago Gregory was going to have coffee at a friend's house, a friend who happens to live right around the corner from a grocery store. I asked Gregory if he wouldn't mind picking up some cream. Due to Gregory's grocery store history, and the fact that there are approximately 129387 types of cream in France (that's me guesstimating), I decided to be super clever and snap a photo of the type of cream I wanted with his phone. This way he would know exactly what I wanted and there wouldn't be any confusion. (Do you see where this is going?)

This is what I took a photo of.

And this is what he came home with.

If anyone can explain to me how this happened I'll be your best friend. Over and out.

Bisous!

  1. My guess? Me thinks he does it wrong so he shan't be asked to do it often.

  2. I won't try to guess what happened to Gregory but cream is definitely confusing in France. There are so many different creams as you said. Life will be much simpler in the USA.

  3. It's got blue and red on the packaging.

  4. He is a man! He has selective hearing. And selective vision? And he forgot his cell phone?

  5. Definitely going with the selective hearing, plus they don't like following instructions (see directions also). He probably thought he remembered the colours correctly and was very pleased! : D

  6. Truly hilarious! Yes, b/c he is a man! My husband has the innate problem of NEVER being able to find something in the fridge. "But I don't see it," he says. Then, I point out that item that was literally right in front of his face in the fridge! ;-) Oh boy!

  7. Oh Gregory, you so funny. I seriously have no idea.

  8. I agree with Samantha Dugan - sounds like a man who just doesn't want to be asked to go to the grocery store. Any other explanation has me doubting Gregory's intelligence... ;o)

  9. The packaging is in the same colour! I can spend hours in a French supermarket looking (and buying)
all the wonderful products. So much choice! Bon week-end!

  12. Haha, I have no idea. They both have blue on the packaging?

I actually still want to try horse meat. Does that make me weird? I ate goat in Portugal.

  13. My favorite part is that you asked for "legere" and you got "epaisse". Gregory!!!

  16. Sara, this is simple to see .. This man who loves you is, by design, there to gather, hunt, and protect you. We are "built" that way. Gregory would not leave the store without that ever precious label addition - "100% Naturelle" .... Kudos, Greg, for treating your woman in such a respectful manner .... and by the way, Brother .. did you pick up the beer?

  18. Pretty much. The time I sent my husband to store for celery and he came back with celery root. Even after I texted him a picture of what celery is supposed to look like from Wikipedia.

  19. Oh this did make me laugh! :) Wish I could explain it, but I can't. However, I completely understand...

  20. Hee hee, close, but no cigar!

When I was a kid I wouldn't touch creme fraiche because when we went on holiday we drove past a big creme fraiche factory and it stank, so I didn't want to go near it! Now I happily eat it, but yeah, nothing like cream lol

  21. Too funny! I'm guessing he saw red, white, and blue and reached for red, white, and blue. Stuff like this happens to me all the time because I'm in my head and not paying attention. We have many fewer types of cream here in the US!

  22. I call bullshit. All guys do this so us chicks will get frustrated and do it ourselves… then they get off the hook from having to do it in the future (can you tell I've dealt with the same thing in the past?) Send him back, I say! #shakingmyfistintheair

  23. Haha, oh my. Is there some kind of mental condition that might explain this? (Selective food blindness...?)

  24. I can't wait to see how he does in US grocery stores!

  25. This is funny and frustrating at the same time :) I do not have an explanation...but did he have one himself?

  26. Well, I guess both packages are kind of blue. Thanks for making me laugh! Have a great Sunday!

  27. Well both packages feature the same colors.......????? This was hilarious! Thanks for sharing!

  28. This is the BEST. My husband also calls home about EVERY SINGLE ITEM so I'm glad it's not just us that seem to have the grocery store complex! ;)

  29. This just made me laugh out loud - my husband never...NEVER...comes home with the correct item. It's amazing - like, what are they doing?

  30. My husband do the same things, every time he has to go to the grocery store. And it's strange how he is unable to phone me, if he need, insted of buying wrong things!!! Is funny, all men in the world are equal :)
